Luncheon meeting on DESH Bill

World Trade Center Bengaluru in association with Bangalore office of Cochin Special Economic Zone (CSEZ)and Export Promotion Council for EOUs and SEZs (EPCES) conducted a Luncheon meeting to discuss the newly proposed Development of Enterprise & Service Hubs (DESH) Bill 2022. Sri Chowdeshwari Logistics LLP and BDO India were the knowledge partners for the event. Mr. A.S. Naveen Kushalappa IRS, Joint Development Commissioner, Cochin Special Economic Zone was the Chief guest.

During his address, Mr. Kushalappa stated how the DESH Bill will enhance the ease of doing business. He offered all support to the Developers and Units and encouraged them to reach out to his office in case of any concerns. Mr. K.K. Pillai, Regional Chairman, EPCES in his address opined that the eighteenth G20 summit which will be held in India in 2023 and how it can strengthen India’s international ties. He also touched upon the Australia-India Economic Cooperation and Trade Agreement (ECTA) that aims to boost both countries’ economies through trade. 

Mr. Krishna Barad, Partner - Customs & International Trade, Indirect Tax - BDO India spoke in detail on how the SEZ Act reformation will happen through DESH. He shared the latest updates on WFH policies and explained how DTA and SEZ units will benefit from the Bill. He also mentioned the migration of SEZ filings from ‘SEZ Online’ portal to ‘ICEGATE’.

Specified Officers, Authorized Officers and other officials from CSEZ attended the event. EPCES members, companies from Brigade Tech Gardens, other developers and units under the zone were also present. 

The event was preceded by a luncheon and was conducted at Butterfly Block, Brigade Tech Gardens, Kundanahalli,Whitefield.  Mr. Vivek George Sr. Manager, World Trade Center delivered the welcome address and moderated the session. Mr. C.U. Poovaiah IRS, Regional Director, EPCES, Bangalore provided the concluding remarks. 

A buggy tour of the campus was also arranged for the SEZ Officials.
