A talk “Digitalization- Role of the CFO and Finance Function” was conducted in association with IMA (Institute of Management Accountants India Pvt Ltd.). Mr. Narasimha Kini, Senior Vice President - Global Head of Emerging Business Unit - EXL USA was the speaker.

Mr. Narasimha Kini started off the talk by mentioning the changes the pandemic has brought about in people’s buying patterns, working mode, design of new products and lifestyle. Digitalization has become a mandate for organizations big and small. Customers are also getting a better experience in digital and 75% of first time users stick to it. Mr. Kini listed the World’s 10 most valuable public companies and unicorns and mentioned that most of them are data led. Mr. Kini explained how data driven finance produces data driven insights which gives way to growth and profitability. This new approach is faster and more precise with focus on investment, real time forecasting, risk management and environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG). Successful data-driven organizations execute on three core transformations – data, culture and talent. A holistic approach is required for future finance professionals which also provides them good management skills, data & digital skills and soft skills other than good knowledge in finance.
