Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a way of making a computer, a computer-controlled robot, or a software think intelligently, in a similar manner the intelligent humans think. A major thrust of AI is in the development of computer functions associated with human intelligence, such as reasoning, learning, and problem-solving. Machine learning is an application of artificial intelligence (AI) that provides systems with the ability to automatically learn and improve from experience without being explicitly programmed. Machine learning focuses on the development of computer programs that can access data and use it learn for themselves.

World Trade Center Bengaluru organised a Talk on –“Emerging Trends in Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning” on the 18th October 2018. Dr. Jagannath Rao, Industrial IoT system design and implementation consultant, Professor of Practice at the University of Georgia and AI researcher, was the lead speaker of the event.

Through his talk, he focused on key areas of how and why the manufacturing sector is a perfect fit for the application of AI and how this acts as a catalyst for competitive advantage in business. He also spoke about how Six Sigma strategies seek to improve the quality of the output of a process by identifying and removing the causes of defects and minimizing variability in manufacturing and business processes.

The workshop was followed by a Q&A session to address all the queries of the participants who were a mix of people from various industries and institutions.
